Date: 06-07 May 2025
Venue: Virtual-SESRIC, Ankara - Türkiye

SESRIC, in collaboration with the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT), successfully organised a workshop on “Developing Pertinent Marketing Strategy for the Destination Senegal” on 6-7 May 2025 through an online video conferencing platform.

The workshop is held in alignment with the resolutions of the 12th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers held in Khiva from 31 May to 2 June 2024, which announced Dakar as “OIC City of Tourism for 2025,” and within the framework of SESRIC’s Tourism Capacity Building Programme (Tourism-CaB).

The workshop gathered 80 experts and professionals from tourism-related national institutions in Senegal, including the Senegalese Agency for Tourism Promotion (ASPT) and the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts of Senegal, along with private sector stakeholders in the tourism industry. It aimed to provide the participants with the recent developments in the tourism sector, including promotion and marketing tools, through pertinent presentations and country experience sharing.

The workshop featured presentations by experts from UN Tourism, the Senegalese Agency for Tourism Promotion (ASPT), Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), Tourism Agency of Uzbekistan, Uganda Tourism Board, and the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) of Malaysia. They covered essential topics in tourism marketing, such as destination promotion, improving PPPs, digitalization, and the development of a national strategy for sustainable tourism. The activity also provided a valuable opportunity in sharing Uzbekistan’s experience in the preparations for Khiva as the OIC City of Tourism in 2024.

The presentations of the workshop are available here.
