H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Ahmet YILDIZ, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Türkiye to the United Nations in New York.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission and provided an opportunity to exchange views on ongoing and potential areas of cooperation, particularly in the field of statistics and evidence-based policymaking.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the side event on “Strengthening Agricultural Census Systems in OIC Countries: Lessons Learned and Future Directions”, which was jointly organised by SESRIC and Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). The event was hosted at the Turkish House on 5 March 2026, marking the second side event organised on the margins of the 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission.

The side event brought together experts and representatives from national statistical offices and international organisations to discuss best practices and recent developments related to agricultural censuses and statistical capacity-building.
