H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a meeting with Dr. Shantanu Mukherjee, Head of the Economic Analysis and Policy Division at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), on the margins of the 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission in New York City.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on potential avenues for strengthening collaboration between SESRIC and UN DESA in areas of mutual interest. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in evidence-based policymaking, strengthening national statistical systems, and promoting the effective use of data and statistics to support sustainable development efforts across the OIC countries.

Both sides highlighted the importance of reliable and timely statistical data in informing development policies and monitoring progress towards the United Nations development agenda. They also underscored the value of continued collaboration in building statistical capacities and fostering knowledge exchange to support the development priorities of OIC countries.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further explore practical avenues for cooperation and partnership between SESRIC and UN DESA in the period ahead.
