SESRIC and the BPS-Statistics Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the existing cooperation in the field of official statistics and to further enhance collaboration in supporting the development of national statistical systems across the OIC Member Countries. The signing ceremony took place on 5 March 2026 on the sidelines of the 57th Session of the UN Statistical Commission convened in New York.

The MoU was signed by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, Director General of SESRIC, and H.E. Ms. Amalia Adininggar WIDYASANTI, Chief Statistician of BPS-Statistics Indonesia. The agreement reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to promote high-quality, timely, and reliable official statistics that support evidence-based policymaking on economic, social, and environmental issues.

The signed MoU establishes a framework for cooperation aimed at strengthening collaboration through joint initiatives and knowledge exchange. Within this framework, the two institutions will explore opportunities to cooperate in areas such as the modernization of statistical systems through digital transformation and the adoption of international standards, the promotion of joint research and analytical work on emerging statistical topics, and the organisation of capacity-building activities including training programmes, workshops, and seminars for statistical professionals across OIC Countries.

The partnership will also support joint capacity-building initiatives, including training programmes, workshops and seminars, while contributing to the achievement of targets under relevant national, regional and global development plans.
