H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Zaur MIKAYILOV, Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, on the sidelines of the 5^th Istanbul International Water Forum, held on 5–6 May 2026 in Istanbul.

During the meeting, the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in data exchange, research, and capacity-building to support evidence-based policymaking across OIC countries. In this regard, H.E. SELÇUK highlighted the key initiatives of the Centre, including the Water Resources Management Capacity Building Programme (Water-CaB) and the OIC Water Portal, underscoring their role in enhancing institutional capacities and fostering knowledge exchange among OIC Member Countries in the field of water resources management.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on ongoing efforts and emerging priorities in the water sector across OIC countries.

Both sides explored possible areas of collaboration, including technical cooperation, experience sharing, joint research activities, and capacity-building initiatives for the benefit of OIC Member Countries.

The meeting concluded with both SESRIC and the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in the field of water resources management.
