H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Prof. Dr. Hani Atif Nabhan SWEILAM, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt, on the margins of the 5th Istanbul International Water Forum.

The meeting focused on exploring opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between SESRIC and the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt in the field of sustainable water resources management. The two sides discussed the organisation of specialised workshops, training courses, and knowledge-sharing activities under SESRIC’s Water Resources Management Capacity Building Programme (Water-CaB), with particular emphasis on modern irrigation systems, efficient water use, and integrated water resources management.

During the meeting, H.E. Prof. Dr. SWEILAM expressed Egypt’s strong interest in sharing its extensive experience and technical expertise with other OIC Countries, especially in the areas of irrigation technologies, water efficiency, and institutional capacity development. Both sides also underlined the importance of promoting South-South cooperation and fostering practical partnerships among OIC countries to address common water-related challenges.

To date, SESRIC has implemented 25 capacity-building activities in the field of water resources management, benefiting experts and institutions from across OIC Member Countries.
