SESRIC and Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Signed an MoU to Strengthen Cooperation

SESRIC and the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at SESRIC Headquarters in Ankara to enhance their cooperation efforts.

This MoU intends to strengthen collaborations between the two parties in the education sector as well as vocational education and training (VET), including the exchange of competent students between SESRIC and IUIU for specific programmes, such as the Emerging Talents Capacity Building Programme (SET-CaB) of SESRIC. In addition, this cooperation aims at advancing cooperation between the respective libraries of both institutions through the sharing of expertise and knowledge management practices.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment of SESRIC and IUIU, as two sister institutions operating under the umbrella of the OIC, towards contributing to the exerted efforts in the region in the education sector through joint programmes, capacity-building initiatives, and knowledge sharing.

IUIU is an affiliate university under the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was founded in 1988 by the OIC under a bilateral agreement with the Government of Uganda, and formally established by the Parliament of Uganda through The Islamic University in Uganda Act of 1990, operating as a premier international and multicultural institution anchored at its main campus in Mbale alongside three additional campuses, dedicated to delivering comprehensive education through over 100 academic programmes across 8 faculties and a Centre for Postgraduate Studies, fostering a community of 10,000 students from 21 countries and over 900 staff members from 8 countries, and generating societal impact with over 40,000 graduates across broad disciplines.
