Training Course on ‘Enhancing Gastronomy Tourism Promotion in Senegal: Marketing and Branding’
Date: 08-09 July 2025
Venue: Virtual-SESRIC, Ankara - Türkiye

Within the framework of its Project on “Promoting Gastronomy Tourism for the Destination Senegal,” SESRIC will organise a Training Course on “Enhancing Gastronomy Tourism Promotion in Senegal: Marketing and Branding” on 8-9 July 2025 through an online video conferencing platform. The project has been successfully listed for funding by the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) under the 12th Call for Project Proposals. This project is designed and implemented as part of SESRIC’s efforts in commemorating Dakar as the OIC City of Tourism for 2025.

The primary objective of the training course is to equip participants with the essential knowledge and practical strategies for enhancing tourism development, particularly in the gastronomy tourism sector. By sharing best practices from other OIC countries, the training aims to strengthen collaboration with industry stakeholders, ensuring that the benefits of the training extend throughout the tourism sector in Senegal.

The COMCEC Coordination Office (CCO) introduced the COMCEC Project Funding (CPF) in 2013, a financing mechanism that supports projects submitted by OIC member countries and relevant OIC institutions. Funding is provided in the form of a grant through the Development and Investment Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, a primary body in the CPF scheme. Since the initiation of CPF, SESRIC has implemented 16 projects to date across various cooperation areas and sectoral themes determined by the CCO.

For the 12th Call for Project Proposals of CPF, the CCO has completed the evaluation process and announced the final list of successful projects. Three SESRIC projects have been identified as eligible for funding in the 2025 implementation period. These projects, designed in collaboration with relevant national institutions in member countries, aim to strengthen human resources and institutional capacities in the areas of agriculture, poverty alleviation, and tourism cooperation areas.
